Video and computer games that improve math skills

Working with numbers improves concentration, problem solving, memory, concentration and clarity of thought generally. And there's good news for gamers young and old! Video and computer games are rich with numbers! I did some research to refine the games that use math skills to a greater extent.

Computer games are generally less expensive and a bit 'more versatile. They are used to treat a slightly younger audience. As a young man I am referring to school ageChildren. is that a very large part of video game users are adult males! So I start with a contribution of a few math focused computer games that seem of good quality. Math Munchers Deluxe by The Learning Company reinforces math skills to solve problems by encouraging the game in areas of whole numbers, decimals, factors and simple geometry. Mighty Math by Edmark teaches concepts using mathematics and geometry and problem solving skills. Teaching Pro: Middle and Upper School Mathematics by Mathsoft has comprehensive coverage to ensure that students learn math concepts and understand how math is used in the real world. The program includes focus in Basic Math, Pre-algebra, algebra, algebra II, geometry and trigonometry. Meets curriculum required in all states!

There are manyMath Games focused online. Suduko revolves around the attempt to fill a grid so that every row contains the numbers 1:00 to 9:00 once. This game is a widely known addictive puzzle game. This is a great game for sharpening math skills and can load several web sites and is available for download to your mobile phone! Timez Attack is real video game by the same engineers who worked to make games play station. The goal of the game is, yourWay through the dungeon maze and foil those who would stand in their way. Nintendo offers a game called Math Play for the DS. This game requires players to equations in four different game modules, arranging numbered cards to create. There are a variety of difficulty levels. There are alsoMultiplayer action and addictive puzzle game.

Donkey Kong Jr. Math has received mixed reviews. With mixed I mean not so great. This is one of the only math specific games however, that my search turned up for GameCube and Wii. When it comes to game consoles such as PS2, Gamecube and Wii I would choose puzzle games of skill that are more abundant and tend to require mathematics.

Working with numbers keeps many of our skills sharp including problem solving andimproves the overall clarity of thought.
